Erin Lawlor: Arcadia | Highlights from the Touring Exhibition

Vigo Gallery is pleased to present a selection of works from Erin Lawlor’s recent touring museum exhibition, divining, which travelled from Highlanes Gallery in Drogheda to Galway International Arts Festival, and finally to The Source Arts Centre, Thurles.

The title, divining, refers both to a minute and essential geological reading and to an intuitive act of interpretation, evoking notions of a fantasised ideal. Working horizontally and alla prima, Lawlor approaches the canvas as both a ground and an immersive space of intense labour, building each composition through layered, instinctive gestures that resolve into a singular formal unity.

A catalogue accompanying this year-long exhibition is due to be released in the coming weeks, and will be available to view in the gallery once published.
